V-Line Surgery Recovery: A Realistic Timeline

General information about treatment in Seoul, published by MOOi Plastic Surgery Clinic for international patients. Our own approach, physicians and prices are on the pages linked at the end.

V-line surgery reshapes bone, and the face needs time to settle around the new contour. Knowing the usual timeline helps you plan how long to stay in Seoul and when to go back to work.

The first week

Swelling builds over the first two to three days and then begins to ease. A compression band is usually worn around the face and jaw, and the head is kept elevated. Because incisions are inside the mouth, a liquid or soft diet and careful mouth rinsing are needed. Numbness of the lower lip and chin is common.

Weeks two to four

Visible swelling reduces enough for most people to return to everyday life, sometimes with a mask. Eating gradually returns to normal as the surgeon advises. Strenuous exercise is still avoided.

Months one to three

Residual swelling continues to fade, often unevenly — one side may look fuller for a while. Sensation in the lower lip and chin usually improves gradually.

Months three to six

The final contour becomes clear. This is the point at which the result is fairly judged.

How long to stay in Seoul

Around ten days to two weeks is commonly advised. That covers the operation, the early check-ups and enough time for the surgeon to confirm healing before you fly.

Signs to report

  • Swelling that increases suddenly on one side
  • Fever, worsening pain or discharge inside the mouth
  • Bleeding that does not stop with gentle pressure

Making recovery easier

  • Prepare soft, nutritious foods and a straw if advised
  • Bring clothing that does not need to be pulled over the head
  • Plan rest days rather than sightseeing in the first week
